BORN AND RAISED in the Toronto and Stouffville areas, Jan graduated in 1968  from Toronto Bible College, (now Tyndale University & College & Seminary) and specialized in World Missions for three years.

Jan founded the “Garments For The Gospel,” (GFTG) program in 1996 as an outreach sewing ministry  (sewing, knitting, quilting etc).  It is designed to share God’s Love & Message of Salvation with needy children & their families around the world. By using Gospel garment labels, they literally become “Garments for the Gospel”.

As its Ambassador, Jan is available to present the program locally, establish new or encourage and assist ongoing chapters.  This can take place through a network of prayer support, speaking engagements, workshop demonstrations, or personal assistance in setting up first time All-Day Sewing Bees.

Or, if distance is a problem, advice by telephone and the printed page using the Starter’s Kit (a detailed, practical, 64 page how-to-manual including inserts) is a resource that attempts to answer all your questions. Jan shares proven methods and suggestions, including potential “tracking forms” for organizing you fabrics, patterns and sewers, as well as announcements and several language translations for the Garment labels.  All you have to do is photocopy the desired forms and you are half way there!

If God is placing GFTG upon your heart and sewing for needy children interests you, (no fittings needed) then this is a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord.  It is  joyous, satisfying and rewarding because this work has Eternal value.

“Sewing To Share The Saviour,” can make a difference, one stitch at a time and one Garment For The  Gospel at  a  time.

You will be  among  a  small group of self-supporting Chapters all scattered across Canada either as an outreach Church   program or as a "Solo Gal" working on your own.  GFTG is operating both long term or short projects in Orillia, Brantford, Fredericton & Alma New Brunswick, Alberta, Florida and Texas.  Gospel garments have been sent to Bolivian prison children, Ukrainian and Romanian orphanages, Peru, Uganda, Iraq, Rwanda, Zambia, Haiti as well as to many local churches & charities such as Pregnancy Crisis Centers, and Salvation Army Children's Camps to name a few .

Perhaps you are at a stage in life when you have more free time.  If you desire to be active, and know of an established GFTG or want to found a partner branch and meet the needs of others you can work at your own pace.  This is the perfect ministry for those under you to consider, EVEN if they DON’T SEW!  Apart from the  sewing, there are many jobs  that need to be done.  The Starter’s Kit will certainly help you to see that fact immediately.

GFTG Chapters can operate with anywhere from one lady, 3 GFTG scissors-thread clipartto 5 ladies or 45+ workers, and exists either as one-time projects for a number of weeks, or as long term ministries that conduct meetings once or twice a month.   A precious ministry indeed.

GFTG is also a wonderful opportunity to involve many ladies in your congregations as well as ladies who may love to sew or need the gift of fellowship and service not otherwise available to them in their present circumstance or local church.  Un-churched ladies will also enjoy the work and may  find the Lord's Love and forgiveness and find peace of heart by your demonstration of love, caring concern and friendship.

The greatest joy comes in hearing or seeing that these dear children have received their gifts & God’s Love.  As one little Ukraine boy pleaded with us, "Please don't forget us!"  That has never left my mind and so we share this program whenever the opportunity affords itself.
