This particular quilt started out as a regular Table Topper, but as it progressed I could imagine a garden effect taking place.  I found some butterfly quilting fabric and hence the title of this quilt, "Butterfly Garden."

The more I worked with it the more I wanted the back of the quilt to express this theme as well.  I then proceeded to cut out little flowers and buds and yes, many more butterflies.  It was a work of love to turn under all the tiny edges by hand to later applique them onto the quilt.  It looked lovely, but I felt I needed to ditch around each piece and then to give them a little more definition embroider the leaf markings and petal inside curved edges.  It was the perfect solution to complete my quilt.

The irregular shape of this pointed star-like polygon was a challenge to attach the bias binding edge and maintain each of the mitered 16 points.  I learned a lot about mitered corners as never before, but I was delighted with the finished product.

The Scripture "treasure" for this sweet quilt was based on
John 3:16
