New Male Eagle Sketch for Family Affair paintingHi Artist Hearts,  I have been working hard to redraw my male Eagle as promised.  If you look carefully you can just make out the original shape underneath my new drafting paper sketch.  I have also included all the detailing needed for the feather groups that would be seen on the inside of the wing particularly in this open position.  I also changed the position of the legs and especially the feet.  I wanted them to show more movement and life. The original legs and feet seemed too static for me.  I like this version much better.  I hope you do too.

This version is a compilation of 4 different Eagle photographs. In my research I was absolutely amazed to learn that the Eagle's wings can take on the most interesting and beautiful of positions as well as the most bizarre, depending on the circumstances including wind factors or stances of defence.  They are very versatile and agile despite their 6 foot wing span in flight.

I will be sharing a few more important areas of this painting that I am having to consider carefully before I transfer the final sketch to my art paper and before I lay down my first watercolor wash.  I will include them in my next post shortly.  These extra things are important to portraying not only the Eagle, but also his surroundings as authentic and real.

I will soon be laying paint to paper.  I can hardly wait to get it started!  Thanks for your patience, but it won't be too much longer now.  Until then happy painting!
Have a wonderful day,
Jan.
